Thornæs Danish Whisky: Single Malt - Sofia - Lightly peated

Sofia lets whisky from our new Bulgarian oak casks meet a fully matured version from Sherry Oloroso casks.

While the sherry-matured whisky arrives un-peated the European oak spirit comes with a mildly peated aroma, which blends imperceptibly with the counterpart's dark notes of chocolate and raisins.

The result is an interesting dance between the sweet, the floral, the recognizably spicy and mildly smoky. We are calling the edition Sofia - with a friendly nod to the Bulgarian metropolis close to the heart of the Balkans.

  • Classic aroma of caramel, honey, sweet spices and fresh oak
  • Toffee fudge with clear notes of honey, raisins, oak and smoldering smoke
  • Fine, long and slightly creamy aftertaste with gradually darker and vinous elements mixed with more smoke
